KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) views seriously a viral message on WhatsApp entitled ‘Konspirasi dan Skandal Rasuah di Malaysia’ (Conspiracy and Corruption Scandal in Malaysia) using the name ‘Muhammad Fauzan Jamil’ as its author.
The MACC in a statement labelled the message as false and slanderous, adding that the email address used was also false.
It said the person named in the message was contacted over the issue, and the latter said he did not know anything about the message which used his name and identity card number.
“Following this, he (the person named in the message) will lodge a police report on the matter.
According to the MACC, the accusations were deliberately hurled with the intention of tarnishing its image and hopes that the police can get to the bottom of the matter.
