The Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC) expected to be launched by US President Barack Obama in Cyberjaya later today will boost the entrepreneurial spirit among youths and help them to venture overseas.
Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said his ministry will collaborate with the Finance Ministry to encourage youths to join the 1Malaysia Entrepreneurs Programme (1MET).
"I will urge trainees at Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara (IKBN) to go for the courses offered by MaGIC through 1MET in line with the launch of MaGIC.
"I believe this is a good initiative by the Finance Ministry to promote MaGIC to young entrepreneurs," he told Bernama after attending a Proskill workshop organised by Umno Youth's Young Professional Bureau at the Rakan Muda complex in Bukit Kiara on Saturday.
The workshop on public speaking and presentation was attended by 100 young professionals.
Khairy said as an incubator for young entrepreneurs, MaGIC will collaborate with US universities such as Stanford to widen their business networking.
MaGIC's establishment was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at the Global Economic Summit here last year. He is expected to accompany Obama at the launch today.
