Mah pledges to recapture Teluk Intan Parliamentary seat

Barisan Nasional (BN) Teluk Intan Parliamentary by-election candidate, Datuk Mah Siew Keong, 53, hopes all party component machinery will cooperate to ensure BN wins the by-election.
Mah, who is also Gerakan president, also pledged to work hard to recapture the parliamentary seat which he held for two terms in the 1999 and 2004 general elections from DAP.
"I hope in two weeks we will work hard and pledge to the prime minister (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) to recapture Teluk Intan," he said at the annoucement of the BN candidate and launch of BN machinery by BN deputy chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also Deputy Prime Minister here today.
The ceremony was also attended by Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and MIC president G. Palanivel.
Mah, who also a Teluk Intan boy, expressed his thanks to Najib, who is BN chairman, for once again entrusting him to contest in the by-election.
"If we (BN component parties) can work together, we can win but not only through me or BN leaders on the stage...the ones deciding our victory is you, BN's win is in your hands," he said.
"If BN wins, it is not Mah who is great but the BN in Teluk Intan is - Umno, MIC, PPP and Gerakan - are all great," said the former deputy agriculture and agro-based industry minister.
The Teluk Intan Parliamentary by-election is held following the demise of its incumbent, Seah Leong Peng, 48, of DAP, who died of cancer at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre on May 1.
In the 13th general election, Seah defeated Mah of BN and independent candidate K. Moralingam with a 7,313 vote majority.
