KUALA LUMPUR: UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid is confident that efforts are being taken to resolve the ongoing political crisis in Melaka.
.
Without going into detail about the efforts, he said the crisis should also be viewed seriously by the UMNO leadership, especially at the central level.
"As of this evening, what transpired in Melaka is still not clear because we are getting different information.
"However, what happened should be viewed seriously by the party leadership and I am confident that efforts to resolve the situation are being carried out," he said when commenting on the crisis.
Mahdzir, who is also the Minister of Rural Development, was met after he had officiated the virtually-held appreciation programme for the country's seven participants and four experts who took part in the 2021 WorldSkills Competition at the Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) headquarters here today.
Earlier today, four Melaka assemblymen, namely Datuk Seri Idris Haron (BN-Sungai Udang), Datuk Nor Azman Hassan (BN-Pantai Kundor), Datuk Norhizam Hassan Baktee (Independent-Pengkalan Batu) and Datuk Noor Effandi Ahmad (Bersatu-Telok Mas) declared that they had lost confidence in Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali's leadership.
