The family of Noordin Wahab, 59, one of the 10 Malaysian pilgrims who were injured after a crane collapsed on the Grand Mosque in Makkah last Friday, is now relieved after receiving a call from him.
Noordin's son, Arif Rashdan, 18, said his father was in stable condition and was determined to perform the haj pilgrimage.
"He contacted us to inform us about his condition, said that he was in good health and told us not to worry," said Arif Rashdan when contacted by Bernama.
Noordin, who was accompanied by wife, Munah Mamat, 56, on the pilgrimage, sustained only slight injury on the head.
Another pilgrim from Terengganu injured in the tragedy was Faridah Mansor, 63, from Dungun. She fractured her left wrist and was sent to An Noor Hospital for treatment.
Arif Rashdan, the youngest of seven siblings, said they were shocked after getting the news on the Makkah tragedy and were worried about their parents' safety.
"We thank Tabung Haji for the quick response in informing us and also for the assistance rendered to our parents in Makkah," he added.
He said his parents were scheduled to return home on Oct 17.
It is the second haj pilgrimage for Noordin and his wife. The first was in 2004.
