The Malay Rulers' call for the government to address issues surrounding 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) is being well assessed by the government, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
In a press statement, Ahmad Zahid said the government had undertaken various proactive measures and are in the process of outlining a debt rationalisation plan for 1MDB.
"Any investigations carried out on any party should abide by the rule of law principle. In fact, any urge to speed up or delay investigation towards any party should not take place," he said.
He added the relevant authorities should be given ample space and time to resolve the problems immediately.
"The government will disclose all transactions in the near future with regards to the 1MDB debt rationalisation plan through investments on these assets," said Zahid.
He said the government has always respected the Rulers' will.
"It is hoped that nobody would be fishing in troubled waters and issuing statements as if the government is not taking any efforts to tackle the polemic issues," he said.
On Tuesday, the Malay Rulers had called on the government to complete the investigation related to 1MDB soonest and take "the appropriate stern action" against all found to be implicated.
Their royal highnesses had stressed that all concerned should extend "real and sincere" cooperation for the investigation to achieve its objectives.
The statement was released by the Keeper of the Rulers' Seal, Datuk Seri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad, after the pre-council meeting of the Conference of Rulers at Istana Negara on Tuesday.
