Malay Rulers provide role as check and balance on country''s administration - TMJ

KUALA LUMPUR:Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim pray that Allah bless the wisdom of the Malay Rulers to maintain stability and protect the country against individuals who are greedy and power hungry for the sake of personal interest.

Commenting on the political situation in the country, Tunku Ismail said the importance of the monarchy has been proven by the Malay Rulers’ functional role of checks and balances in the administration.

"The current situation is a clear indication of what will happen when the power to govern is fully given to politicians.

"In today's situation, what is most important is that the welfare of the people should always be given priority and economic recovery can continue to move smoothly," Tunku Ismail said in a post on Facebook here, on Sunday.

The Malay Rulers reportedly began their meeting with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al- Sultan Abdullah Al-Mustafa Billah Ri'ayatuddin Billah Shah after the official vehicles carrying the Malay Rulers arrived at Istana Negara at about 2.30 pm today.

The special meeting with Al-Sultan Abdullah was to discuss some of the proposals presented by the government, especially on the spread of COVID-19.

It follows the Special Meeting of the Cabinet on Friday morning.
