Malays must remain united for future generations - Pemenang
The Malays must remain united for the sake of their future generations, said the Penang Malay Association (Pemenang).
Its president, Tan Sri Mohd Yussof Latiff, said every Malay should appreciate and respect UMNO in keeping with the spirit of the 71st anniversary of the first congress of the Malay Awakening spearheaded by Datuk Onn Jaafar that led to the formation of the party.
"We are most saddened that of late this sacred party of the Malays is threatened by the ills of certain UMNO leaders at all levels.
"UMNO has done no wrong, so it is improper for UMNO to be condemned because of the ills of a few leaders," he said at a press conference.
The press conference was held in conjunction with the 71st anniversary of the first congress of the Malay Awakening.
That congress was held over four days from March 1, 1946, at the Sultan Sulaiman Club in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur, and drew the participation of representatives from 41 Malay organisations which struggled for the independence of the then Malaya. -- Bernama
