Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said Malaysia will direct its assets to Indonesia to help the republic fight forest fires.
He said this is following the Indonesia‘s president Joko Widodo’s request for help from its neighbouring countries for help to put out the forest fires that have caused choking smoke to drift across the region.
Hishammuddin said Malaysia will send a Bombardier CL415MP amphibious aircraft to help fight the forest fires, by this evening.
He said the operation will be coordinated by the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA).
