Malaysia has condemned in the strongest terms the execution of a Canadian national, Robert Hall, in southern Philippines on Monday (June 13).

Wisma Putra in a statement today said Malaysia called upon the Philippines to intensify efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice and continue to work with relevant authorities to stop the killing of innocent lives once and for all.

"This merciless act of brutality should not and will not be tolerated by any nation," Wisma Putra said.

The statement added Malaysia also extended its deepest condolences to the government and people of Canada and particularly to the family of the victim.

According to media reports, Hall was beheaded after the deadline of 3pm local time Monday had lapsed without any ransom paid to the Abu Sayyaf.
