Malaysia strongly condemns Israel’s action to prevent Muslim worshippers from entering the compound of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site for Muslims, on Oct 30 and continued provocation towards the holy site which contravenes with various United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions and international law.
In a statement yesterday, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman urged the international community, especially the UNSC, to demand Israel, the occupying power to respect the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the rights of the Palestinian Muslims to access its compound.
In this regard, Malaysia calls on both Israel and Palestine to refrain from all acts of provocation in order to restore calm and stability in the holy site.
The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) also recently condemned the closure of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by the Israeli authorities, citing it as a serious precedent and a blunt provocation towards the Islamic Ummah.
