The Malaysian government has strongly condemned the rape of an Indonesian maid in Seremban, the second case in two weeks following the rape of an Indonesian restaurant worker in Penang last Friday.
Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, in expressing the condemnation, said the incident was a despicable and inhuman act.
He said in a statement that the ministry would follow up on the case with the police and extend the fullest cooperation to the Indonesian government.
He also said that the employer of the maid was being held under remand from Nov 13 to 20 and was being investigated for the rape, which allegedly took place on Sunday.
Last Friday, a 25-year-old Indonesian restaurant worker lodged a police report in Penang that she was gang-raped by three policemen.
Three policemen were being held under remand for investigation into the gang-rape.
