The MMPC, an agency under MITI which is serving as the national oversight agency responsible for the country's good regulatory practice (GRP) journey, said the NPGRP will be launched by the Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali.
KUALA LUMPUR: The government will be launching the National Policy on Good Regulatory Practice (NPGRP) on July 30, 2021, which is an improvement on the National Policy on Development and Implementation of Regulations (NPDIR) launched in 2013.
The Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), an agency under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) which is serving as the national oversight agency responsible for the country's good regulatory practice (GRP) journey, said the NPGRP will be launched by the Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali.
It will be launched virtually with the theme "Boosting Productivity Through Quality Regulation."
The NPGRP aims to enhance Malaysia's business environment and the well-being of the rakyat in general by raising national productivity growth and competitive advantage, the agency said in a statement.
The adoption of GRP as a national policy is an important milestone to Malaysia's regulatory reform, it added.
"The step is timely as the country is going through the recovery phase from the impact of the pandemic on the economy, health, and overall public well-being. As regulations impact almost every aspect of our lives, the implementation of the GRP is expected to reduce unnecessary regulatory burdens on businesses and the public," MPC said.
MPC noted that a productivity forum based on the theme was also scheduled after the official launch ofthe NPGRP, featuring eminent speakers and experts in good regulatory practice and public policy.
"Experts are expected to deliberate on aspects related to the strengthening of GRP compliance in introducing new regulations and amending the existing regulations to boost Malaysia's productivity and competitiveness. The forum also seeks to inculcate the importance of GRP among policymakers particularly in ensuring the quality policy and regulations," it said.
