KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia had reiterated its disappointment on the lack of real, timely and meaningful progress in the implementation of the Five-Point Consensus (5PC) by Myanmar's junta to bring peace and order back to the country.
Foreign Ministry through its official Twitter account @Wisma Putra said Malaysia at the 12th ASEAN-United Nations (UN) Summit on Nov 11 in Phnom Penh, also highlighted the importance of the draft resolution undergoing consultations on Myanmar in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
The resolution is a manifestation of the international community's support for the 5PC, and looked forward to the tabling and positive outcome of the resolution.

The current situation in Myanmar which was extensively deliberated by ASEAN Leaders during the 41st ASEAN Summit on Friday, with ASEAN leaders in a statement issued on the same day saying the 5PC shall remain as a valid reference in finding a solution for Myanmar and should be implemented in its entirety.
They also stated that there is a need for an implementation plan to outline concrete, practical and measurable indicators with specific timeline to support the 5PC, while ASEAN shall also consider exploring other approaches that could support the implementation of the 5PC, among others in bid to restore peace and stability in Myanmar.
Malaysia at the 41st ASEAN Summit also emphasised the need for assistance to developing countries in promoting equity, justice and empowerment through financial support, capacity building and the transfer of technology, Wisma Putra said.
