TAIPING: "Failing twice does not mean failing forever." This is what Siti Naziah Mohamad Nazid, best Malaysian student in the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) examination for the March 2021 session, stands by.
Siti Naziah, 21, had failed the examination twice before sitting for the internal examination at INTEC Education College. But she did not let initial failures stand in her way of success, obtaining the first place in Malaysia and ninth place in the world for the Audit and Assurance (AA) examination.
"I felt very disappointed at that time for having failed in the internal examination twice. The examination is very important as it serves as a gauge for preparation before sitting for the AA examination.
"I sat in my room and cried because I was too worried that I could not achieve my ambition to become a certified accountant," she said when met by Bernama at her house in Taman Lela, Kamunting, about 83 kilometres from Ipoh, today.
The eldest of the two siblings said she was determined rise above her failures and found inspiration and motivation from mother, Kamariyah Kliwon (Kliwon), 44, and two good friends Syaza Syariah Eddy Syazri and Noor Syafiqah Mohd Tarmizi to overcome her setbacks.
In the meantime, she also shared the learning methods and practised with her friends to enable them to obtain excellent results in international examinations.
"I will review my lessons after dawn, taking breaks from time to time to stay focused. I used wallpapers that contained positive words to motivate me too.
Siti Naziah, who is under the Malaysia Professional Accountancy Centre (MyPAC), hopes that she will be able to complete her studies within the stipulated time as well as achieve success in this field.
Meanwhile, her mother expressed gratitude for Naziah's success especially after two previous failures. "Alhamdulillah, I am very happy. Earlier, while sitting for the examination paper, Naziah said she was not sure she could answer well.
"I did not put pressure on her at that time but gave words of encouragement and that we should leave it to God," she said.
It was reported that Siti Naziah was among the two young Malaysian students who came among top 10 in the world in the ACCA examination (the other student is Nurul Fatin Nabihah Hamdan, also under MyPAC, who obtained first place in Malaysia and seventh in the world for the Strategic Business Reporting paper).
Their successes caught the attention of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah who congratulated both of them
According to a statement issued by Istana Negara via Facebook on Monday, Al-Sultan Abdullah expressed his joy and pride over the outstanding achievements of Nurul Fatin Nabihah and Siti Naziah who succeeded in bringing recognition for the country at the international level.
His Majesty also expressed his admiration for the determination and high fighting spirit displayed by the two students in the face of trials and tribulations to pursue their ambitions.
