Malaysia's COVID-19 cases soar to 4,008

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia reports yet again a highest new daily of COVID-19 transmission as 4,008 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours.
This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 169, 379 cases with only five imported cases from today's record while the remainder were of local transmissions.
Out of the total number of cases reported, 4,003 were local infections involving 2,802 from amongst citizens and 1,201 non-citizens.
Active cases with COVID-19 infectivity soar to record level at 41,087 cases.
Selangor continues to top the list with 1,391 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 513 cases, Johor with 470 cases and Sabah with 406 cases.
As of today, there are a total of 246 patients receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 96 of whom require respiratory assistance.
Meanwhile, there has been an increase of eleven new deaths, bringing the country's death toll to 630.
The country recorded a total of 2,374 recoveries today, bringing the total number of cases recovered to 127,662 .
