KUALA LUMPUR: COVID-19 cases in the country rose to four figures, with another 2,234 positive cases -- the highest daily total so far -- confirmed on Thursday.
According to the Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the increase in cases has raised the total number of cases in the country to 78,499.
The cases reported involved 2,229 local infections while the remaining five were import cases.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) also confirmed three more deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, as the death toll increases to 396.
Despite the increase in positive cases, MOH recorded a total of 1,112 recoveries, bringing the total of recovered and discharged patients to 66,236 in the country.
Meanwhile, another 396 patients are being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) and 60 cases in need of respiratory assistance.
