Malaysia strongly condemns bomb explosion incident in Jakarta

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had contacted President Joko Widodo to convey the condolence and sympathy of the Malaysian government to the government and people of the Republic of Indonesia.
The Malaysian government strongly condemned the bomb explosion incident in Jakarta, Indonesia this morning which killed and injured innocent members of the public.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement today that following the incident, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had contacted President Joko Widodo to convey the condolence and sympathy of the Malaysian government to the government and people of the Republic of Indonesia.
"The ministry wishes to confirm that so far no Malaysian nationals were involved in the bomb explosion. The Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta is always maintaining close communications with the Indonesian local authorities and monitoring the latest development," it said.

According to the statement, if there are Malaysians requiring consular assistance, they can contact the Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta at telephone number 0062 21 5224 947 or through the embassy's e-mail at mwjakarta@kln.gov.my.
In addition, they could contact the embassy's address at Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said Mukim. X/6, No. 1-3 Kuningan Jakarta Selatan 12950 Republik Indonesia.

Seven people were confirmed killed in the bomb attack outside the 'Gedung Sarinah' in Jakarta at 10.50 am today while 13 others were reported to be seriously injured including five police personnel.
