Malaysia has strongly condemned the underground hydrogen bomb test conducted by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea today.
Malaysia's Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman said the test is a clear violation of the relevant United Nations Security Council Resolutions and a serious setback to the global disarmament and non-proliferation regime.
"Malaysia deeply regrets this latest incident which constitutes a grave threat to regional and global peace and security. It also undermines global efforts towards achieving the universal goal of complete and general disarmament.
"Such actions by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea over the past few years only serve to further increase regional tensions and hinder the prospects for lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula and the world in general," he said in a statement here today.
He said Malaysia also urged the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to desist from conducting further tests and to comply fully with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, with a view to maintaining regional and international peace and security.
