Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said the Armed Forces (ATM) members who were sent to Saudi Arabia recently was for military training and not to attack Syria.

He said ATM was invited by the Saudi government to take part in the training.

“This is based on the bilateral ties between the two countries,” he said when replying to a question from Tian Chua (PKR-Batu) today.

Chua had wanted to know the real reason the Malaysian army were sent to Saudi.

Hishammuddin also expressed his hope that the matter will not be twisted by any quarters.

“What has this got to do with politics? This is military exercise for the betterment of the ATM,” he said.
