Malaysian arrested in Tanah Merah ferry terminal murder case

A 23-year-old Malaysian man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 54-year-old woman at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal on Nov 25, 2016.
With strong co-operation and assistance from the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP), the suspect was arrested in Malaysia on Dec 18, 2016, pursuant to a warrant of arrest issued by the State Courts in Singapore.
The suspect was subsequently handed over to the Singapore Police Force (SPF) on the evening of Dec 19, 2016.
"The SPF wishes to express our gratitude to the RMP for rendering their utmost support to this case, leading to the arrest of the murder suspect in Malaysia," Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (Covering), Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Sekher Warrier, said in a media statement released on SPF's website today.
"The SPF will continue to work closely with our foreign law enforcement partners to bring such fugitives home to face justice," Warrier said.
The suspect will be charged in Court on Dec 21, 2016 with the offence of Murder under Section 302(1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries the death penalty. - BERNAMA
