A 10-year-old Malaysian boy who was believed to have sleep-walked, plunged to his death from the sixth floor of a hotel here early today.

Fam Song Heng fell from the sixth floor of the Asia Grand Hotel about 2.20am, at Chayakul Street in Hatyai City, Songkhla.

The body of the victim, from Malacca, was found on a parking space area located in the rear of the hotel building, according to the police officer-in-charge, Captain Kittitas Numuang.

He said the police had classified the case as an accident, and believed Fam had sleep-walked before falling off the building.

Prior to the incident, the boy was sleeping with his grandmother and brother in a room on the sixth floor, while his parents stayed on the third floor of the hotel.

Fam's family only learnt of the incident after being alerted by hotel staff.

One of the family members said Fam, with his six other relatives, were on vacation here and were expected to return to Malaysia this morning.

Kittitas said initial examination by a doctor at the Hatyai Hospital found Fam sustained a fractured spine and head injuries.
