The Malaysian Embassy in Kathmandu is taking the necessary steps to identify whether any Malaysians are involved in the latest quake which occurred in Nepal, today.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry in a statement said a 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal today at approximately 12.35pm local time (3.05pm Malaysia time).
"The ministry will continue to monitor the situation. It wishes to reiterate that it is important for all Malaysians who intend to undertake a visit to the country, to contact the Embassy of Malaysia in Kathmandu.
"This will assist the embassy in providing the required consular assistance to Malaysians abroad," the statement said.
The accident happened two weeks after the devastating 7.8 magnitude quake that hit Nepal on April 25.
