Malaysian Embassy officers in Bangkok are now in Doi Saket district in Chiang Mai to assist the ongoing efforts in providing consular services in relation to Sunday's bus tragedy.
Malaysia's Foreign Ministry, in a statement today, said it would continue to work with the relevant Malaysian agencies, Thai authorities and the travel agency in helping to identify the victims as well as bring the remains of the victims and those injured back to Malaysia.
The Foreign Ministry had activated its operations room in Putrajaya, which can be reached at 03-8887-4570, the statement said.
Wisma Putra said 13 Malaysians were killed and nine injured in the tragedy. Four of the nine were severely injured.
According to news reports, a tour bus carrying 22 Malaysians from Johor skidded into a ravine after hitting a pickup truck on the way from Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai on Sunday.
Fifteen family members of the Malaysian victims left for Bangkok from Kuala Lumpur earlier today before heading to Chiang Mai.
