Malaysian F1 aims to attract more than 2,000 Thais

The Sepang International Circuit (SIC) is aiming to attract more than 2,000 Thai spectators at its forthcoming 2013 Formula 1 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix.
Its head of commercial strategy and marketing, Richard Lee, said between 2,000 and 2,500 Thai spectators were expected to attend the three-day race, beginning March 22.
"We are glad to note that the number of Thai spectators keep increasing every year," he told Bernama during the promotional campaign of the race here today.
He said SIC was working closely with local travel agents in packaging the event to make it more attractive and value for money.
'Guns N Roses' concert, and discount for shopping and accommodation were among the attractions, he said, adding that fans could also get discounts at the KL Bird Park, Asian Water Sports Village, Red Box, Cathay Cineplex, Aquaria KLCC and many other outlets.
Lee said fans could also indulge themselves in various thrilling off-track activities such as drifting, rallying and go karting.
First organised in 1999, Malaysia will host the second round of this season's 20-leg race.
Director of Tourism Malaysia (Thailand Office) Iskandar Mirza Mohd Yusof said fans could also visit interesting places in Malaysia, including its latest attraction such as Legoland.
