JOHOR BAHRU: The Malaysian Family Sales Programme (PJKM) conducted at 953 locations in 220 parliamentary constituencies nationwide since last December has generated total sales of more than RM29.38 million and attracted 1.5 million visitors, as of Sunday.
The Johor Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) in a statement said of the total, the state recorded RM3.1 million in sales revenue and registered more than 150,000 visitors at 127 locations in all 26 parliamentary constituencies.
KPDNHEP said PJKM received an encouraging response because it offered various daily essentials at prices between 10 and 20 per cent cheaper than the local market.
For example, chicken is sold for RM7.95 per kilogramme (kg) compared to the original price of RM8.78 per kg, seabass for RM10 per fish (compared to RM16) and red chilli for RM18.90 per kg (compared to RM26.90), it said.
"From the feedback received, most visitors welcomed and asked for PJKM to be implemented regularly. They also said the price offered can ease their financial burden," the statement read.
Therefore, KPDNHEP hopes that the PJKM which is currently taking place at Dataran Angsana here until Saturday will continue to be visited by the public to buy their daily essentials.
The programme, which is being implemented in collaboration with various agencies and ministries in conjunction with the Malaysian Family Aspirations Tour (AKM Tour), is also held simultaneously in other parliamentary constituencies throughout Johor.
