The Malaysian High Commission in Singapore is still waiting for an update from the Singapore Police Force (SPF) whether an accident involving nine motorcyles and a van this afternoon had involved Malaysians.
"We are monitoring the incident," a spokesman told Bernama when contacted.
In the crash at the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE), two motorcyclists aged 34 and 50 were killed on the spot.
Six other motorcyclists who sustained head and body injuries were sent to the Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
In its update on Facebook, the SPF said a 25-year-old van driver was detained to facilitate investigations.
It said the man's driving licence would be suspended with immediate effect.
At 3.49pm, the SPF said it was alerted to the accident along BKE towards Woodlands after the Seletar Expressway (SLE) exit.
Meanwhile, the police have urged the public not to circulate photos or videos of the deceased, out of respect for the families.
According to local media reports, at the time of the accident, the motorcyclists had parked under a flyover as they sought shelter from the rain.
At least, one motorcycle bore a Johor registration plate, said one of the reports. -- BERNAMA
