A Malaysian man and an Indonesian were shot dead by the authorities when they resisted arrest, National Narcotics Agency (BNN) deputy head of drug eradication Insp. Gen. Arman Depari said.
The two men are believed to be members of an international drug syndicate, Antara News reported.
In the Sunday incident, the authorities also seized 17.5 kilograms of crystal meth in West Kalimantan, Indonesia.
Following the shooting, five others were also arrested.
Depari said the Malaysian man was a supplier while the Indonesian man acted as a broker.
"The crystal meth was smuggled from Kuching, Malaysia, via Jago Babang cross-border checkpoint in Bangkayang district. To deceive officers, the crystal meth was hidden in basic commodities by capitalizing on weak supervision and check by officers at the Jagoi Babang cross-border checkpoint," he was quoted saying.
The officers also seized two cars, 18 mobile phones, and cash.
