Filepic of the drug methampetamine, also knows as syabu or ice.
For a suspected Malaysian drug mule, her 'Victoria's Secret' was out in the open when customs officers exposed her bid to smuggle syabu in her underwear at the Juanda International Airport in Surabaya on May 12.
The drug, also known as methampetamine and weighing 720 grammes, was found in two plastic packets stitched like a menstrual pad and attached inside the underwear.
The 29-year-old woman, who took a Cathay Pacific aircraft from Hong Kong to Surabaya was nabbed by customs officials upon her arrival at the airport at 10.45pm.
Juanda Customs and Excise Department spokesman, Iwan Heriawan said when the customs enforcement officers suspected something fishy, tight observation was carried out on the woman.
"Security officers conducted an inspection of all items brought in by the woman, including the underwear she wore," he said Wednesday.
Upon questioning, Iwan said the suspect claimed she was asked to courier the drug for someone based in Jakarta.
"Her statement was proven right when police detained a Nigerian in Jakarta, with the help of the Narcotics Police Division of East Jawa District," he added.
An East Jawa District police spokesman Andi Ludianto said the police would continue investigations into the case.
"This is the modus operandi of the distribution network. The individualordering the drug is in Jakarta but the goods are sent to Surabaya," he said.
