Langkawi Member of Parliament Datuk Ir Nawawi Ahmad today lodged a police report refuting the alleged claim concerning his comment linking the Yang di-Pertuan Agong with the United States (US) Department of Justice (DOJ).
He said the report was lodged at the Hulu Kelang Police Station at 11.43am today after various parties had criticised and blamed him on the comment regarding the Malaysian Official Number 1 (MO1) in the Facebook website on Tuesday (Aug 16).
He said the statement had been misinterpreted by certain parties after a Facebook acquaintance had asked who was MO1 (Malaysia Official 1) in the report of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
"In the comment, I did not say that MO1 was the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, on the contrary I had said that His Majesty was Malaysian Official Number 1 which is the highest ruler in our country. It was not linked to the MO1 in DOJ (Department of Justice of the United States).
"This is my opinion which I understand based on Article 32 of the Malaysian Constitution which states that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is the highest leader of the government," he said when met at the Sultan Abdul Halim Airport, here today.
Nawawi said the people concerned criticised him without reading the whole discussion with his Facebook acquaintance and only took his comment pertaining to the MO1 only.
"I wrote based on my understanding only and because the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is the highest leader to approve all matters concerning the Executive, Legislative and Judiciary," he said.
