Malaysian Snooker and Billiards Federation founder W.Y. Chin dies

MSBF president Melvin Chiah said Chin died at the University of Malaya Medical Centre at 10.45 am.

He said the former sports administrator, better known as W.Y. Chin, had also been diagnosed with dementia.

"Last December, he had two heart attacks and two stents were inserted," Chiah told Bernama.

Chin, a former vice-president of the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM), leaves behind his wife Datin Yvonne Yeoh, 78, a son and a daughter.

According to OCM, Chin had held various high offices in national, regional and international sport bodies and authorities, spanning over two-and-a-half decades.

He was also instrumental in helping Malaysia win two silver medals at the 13th Bangkok Asian Games and 15th Doha Asian Games.

He was inducted into the OCM Hall of Fame in 2011 for his service to sports.

According to Chin's former personal assistant Patricia Khoo, his body has been placed at the Xiao En Centre in Jalan Kuari, Cheras here.

The wake will be held from 11 am to 2 pm and 5 pm to 9 pm on June 23 and 24 while the funeral service will be held at 10 am on June 25
