A Malaysian university is expected to be in the top 20 of the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking by 2050 said Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh.
He said current achievements of the local universities such as the University of Malaya (UM) (curently ranked 133 in THE) as well as better ranking in subjects namely engineering, showed a continuous projection towards a higher position in the renowned international list.
"This is the result of our ministry's effort in redesigning the higher education and looking at higher education from a different perspective," he told reporters after the launching of Learning Rebranded; a collaboration programme between SEGi University with various corporate and government agencies.
Idris witnessed the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the university with eight organisations and Yayasan Sime Darby, Agrobank, Malaysia Building Society Berhad (MBSB), Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA), DRB-Hicom University of Automotive Malaysia, Kolej Yayasan Pahang, Tanri Abeng University of Indonesia, and Biocon Sdn Bhd.
The partnership aims to enhance graduate employability through financial support, innovative academic programmes, training and talent management.
