Confusing news reports about the passport application process led to this 'panic'
The Immigration Department will introduce online application for new passports and renewals as early as September, Datuk Mustafar Ali said.
"We will introduce the system 100 per cent this September to make it easier for the people," he said in an exclusive interview with Astro AWANI today.
He said the department also viewed seriously the delay in the passports applications and renewals recently.

He said the online system will be able to reduce the long queues recently following reports online that the process may take up to six months.
He said because of such reports, the department had been receiving drastic increase in the number of new applications and renewals.
He said limited stocks had also worsen the situation.
