Malaysians planning to travel to Jakarta are advised to be extra vigilant and be in touch with the Malaysian embassy there, said Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican.
"It is better for them to get advice from the embassy to avoid unwanted incidents," he told reporters after attending a meeting with Kepala Batas UMNO Veterans Committee here today.
The public could contact the embassy at 0062 21 5224 947 or email [email protected], he said.
His advice comes in the wake of the terrorist attacks in the Indonesian capital which left at least six people dead including three policemen and several others injured.
On another matter, Reezal Merican, who is also the Member of Parliament for Kepala Batas, said police and investigators in Madinah had yet to track down Malaysian woman Nor Azimah Ibrahim, who was reported mising on Dec 19 while performing the 'umrah' (minor Haj).
However, he said Nor Azimah was believed to be still in the Holy Land, either in Makkah or Madinah.
In another development, Reezal Merican said the DAP-led Penang government should state their stand whether to support the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) or otherwise.
He said according to a PricewaterhouseCoopers Malaysia (PwC) report, the TPPA will benefit the manufacturing sector in Penang, especially the electrical and electronic sectors.
"If the TPPA benefits the sector which give direct contributions to the state, the state government should support TPPA," he said.
