Man with 9 criminal records shot dead in Taiping

A 40-year-old local man was shot dead in an incident at Jalan Perusahaan 3, near the Giant hypermarket on Friday.
In the 8.45pm incident, the victim a scrap metal dealer at Simpang Halt had called one of his employee after being shot several times.
Taiping police chief ACP Harrith Kam Abdullah said the employee had then called the victim’s brother who had then gone to the spot.
“The brother found the victim at a road side and had rushed him to the Taiping Hospital,” he said when contacted.
“However, doctors were unable to save him and the victim died in the hospital,” he added.
He said the victim had sustained gunshot wounds to his head, stomach and right arm.
Harrith said he victim was married and had nine criminal records including for drugs.
He said police are not ruling out revenge as a motive for the incident.
He urged those with information to contact the police.
