Police have arrested a man who is alleged to have beaten up his wife with a piece of wood in Tudan on Sunday.
Miri Police chief ACP Khoo Leng Huat said the 28-year-old man was picked up at his home after his 27-year-old wife lodged a police report yesterday.
"The suspect, who is unemployed, was drunk when he hit his wife for unknown reasons on Sunday at 8pm," he said here today.
He said the victim, a housewife, suffered injuries on her legs.
Initial investigation showed that it was not the first time that the man had physically abused his wife, he said.
Khoo appealed to victims of domestic violence to lodge police reports. -- BERNAMA
