KOTA KINABALU: A 50-year-old man was burnt to death in a fire that destroyed his house and another in Kampung Melikai, Menumbok, today, according to the Fire & Rescue Service.
The body of Mohd Ikmal Abdullah, who had lived with three other family members, was found in the kitchen of his house after fire-fighters had put out the blaze, said Beaufort Fire & Rescue Zone chief Anddre Andrew.
He said Mohd Ikmal was trapped in the house during the fire, to which the fire & rescue service was alerted at 6.12 am.
“We rushed nine fire-fighters to the location in two trucks. By the time the fire-fighters reached the scene, the fire had almost destroyed the houses,” he said.
Anddre said the body was handed over to the police and that the cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained.
