Man charged with hurting second wife

A man pleaded not guilty at the Ampang Magistrate's Court here today to hurting his second wife during a domestic quarrel by punching her in the left ribs, causing fractures and leaving her in fear, last week.
Mohd Norzaidi Mohamed, 30, an insurance adjuster, is alleged to have committed the offence on Fara Sharmila Mohd Shariff, 29, a housewife, in the living room of the victim in Taman Saga, Ampang, at 7am on Sept 21.
He was charged under Section 325 of the Penal Code and is liable to be jailed up to seven years and fined, if convicted.
He was also charged with criminal intimidation for causing her to be in fear and for this faces up to two years jail or fine or both, if convicted.
Magistrate Mohamad Firdaus Sadina Ali allowed bail at RM6,000 in one surety for both charges with an additional condition not to disturb the victim and set Oct 26 for re-mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Norhashimah Hashim appeared for the prosecution while the accused was represented by counsel Kelvinder Singh Sidhu. -- Bernama
