A jobless man was charged Thursday morning with killing his seven-year-old daughter and slashing his two other daughters with a parang last week.
Norazman Mohammad, 43, was charged at the Kajang Hospital before Magistrate Abdul Jalil Salam Mohamad as he is currently warded there, according to a report in The Star.
Norazman is being charged with the murder of Zulaikha just three days after her birthday.
He also faces two additional charges of causing hurt while trying to murder his other two daughters, Maryam, 10, and Liyana, 12.
The offences allegedly occurred in a home in Section 4, Bandar Baru Bangi at 4pm on Jan 30.
No plea was taken for the first charge, as it is a capital offence. However, Norazman claimed trial to the two additional charges.
If convicted of murdering Zulaikha, the father faces the gallows. The two other charges under Section 307 for attempted murder, are each punishable with 20 years jail.
Deputy Public Prosecutor S. Abivami told reporters at the hospital that next court date was Feb 25. Norazman was represented by lawyer Nasar Khan.
Last Thursday, it was reported that police, who had received a call about a man going amok, arrived to discover the little girl dead in a back room on the ground floor of the house with her neck severely slashed.
Police rushed the two other girls to the Kajang Hospital, where one lost a finger while the other had slash wounds on her neck.
They later found Norazman with injuries to his head at a nearby river.
