A man was seriously injured, while his wife was slashed on the palm of her hand when attacked by a group of men in the compound of their house at Meru Heights here today.
The incident occurred at about 3.30 pm while the couple was preparing to go out.
According to a neighbour, who wished to be identified only as Jasmine, 55, she heard the victims screaming and then saw at least six men rushing out of the house and fled on motorcycles.
"I saw the victims sprawled near their car and then contacted the police for help," she said when met by reporters.
It is learnt the victims were sent to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, where the male victim, with a "Datuk" title, was reported in critical condition.
It is also learnt that the victims' daughter and grandson were at home when the attack took place, but they were not harmed. - BERNAMA
