Man detained, drugs seized in raid

A man who tried to hoodwink the police by hiding drugs in burger wrappers has been detained at his house in Taman Machang Bubok here.

Seberang Perai Tengah (SPT) district police chief ACP Azman Abd Lah said the 27-year-old suspect was detained when police raided his house following a tip-off two days ago.

Police found two packets, believed containing a type of drug on him, and 1.47kg of heroin in several packages which were wrapped using burger wrappers, he added.

He said the packages were found in a room when police searched the house. In another development, Azman sought police cooperation to trace the whereabouts of two men to assist investigations in several robbery cases reported in the district.

They are Mohamad Azafizal Abd Manap, 25, also known as Mat Poling, whose last known address is 10492, Lorong 4, Padang Cempedak, Tasek Gelugor near here, and R.Ravisankar ,22, of Nombor 13, Jalan Parit Buntar, Batu 8 1/2, Bagan Serai, Perak.

He said those with information on the two men or their whereabouts should contact Investigating officer ASP Suriman Shahrim at 04-5382222 ext 2446 or 012-4188669 or the nearest police station.
