Man dies in car-trailer crash at Pedas-Linggi exit

A 23-year-old man was killed when the car he was driving skidded and crashed into the back of a trailer at KM232.2 northbound of the North-South Expressway (Plus) near the Pedas-Linggi exit early today.
Rembau Fire and Rescue Station operations officer Abdul Halim Abdul Malik said the department received an emergency call at 4.27am and arrived at the scene half an hour later with seven personnel.
"It took us five minutes to remove the victim who was stuck in the driver''s seat, and he was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer," he told Bernama here today.
The victim''s body was sent to Tampin Hospital for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, the driver of the trailer Mohd Saufi Fitri Rosli, 24, who was unharmed in the incident said he was on his way from Johor Bahru to Kajang, Selangor, when he heard a loud bang from behind.
"I was startled by the bang...I then stopped in the emergency lane. I saw that the victim was trapped inside the vehicle and unconscious and I subsequently made an emergency call," he said.
