Man fined for threatening cyber cafe employee with meat cleaver

A man was fined RM3,000 in default eight months' jail by the Ampang Magistrate's Court here today for threatening a cyber cafe employee with a meat cleaver.
Magistrate Haslinda A. Raof imposed the sentence on Wan Shahril Azrin Wan Bukhri when he pleaded guilty to criminal intimidation of Muhammad Fahmi Sayukhi, 21.
The 26-year-old committed the offence at the Cherry Five Internet Cafe in Jalan Teratai 1/2E, Taman Bukit Teratai, Hulu Langat here at 9pm on May 3.
According to the facts of the case, Wan Shahril Azrin, who was a former employee of the cyber cafe had gone there and attempted to take away several items from the premises without permission, and also intimidated the victim by brandishing a meat cleaver.
Earlier in mitigation, he urged the court to impose a minimum fine as he was unemployed and due to start his burger business tomorrow.
