Man jumps off Penang second bridge

A man is feared to have drowned after jumping off the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah bridge near Batu Maung this morning.
The incident, believed to have taken place at about 8.30am was only realised after a patrolman saw a motorbike with the registration plate PHM 6667 and a handphone at kilometre 11.3 on the bridge.
Fire and Rescue Department operational commander Isharuddin Ismail said the victim, identified as Sukri Saad, 38 rode the motorbike before leaving the vehicle at the spot with his handphone and disappeared.
The department had received a distress call at about 8.40am.
