Man killed, woman seriously injured while seeking shelter under Penang bridge

A motorcyclist was killed while another suffered serious injuries after a car ploughed into them while seeking shelter form the rain under the Penang Bridge flyover exit at KM139 southbound of the North-South Expressway, early today.
In the 6am incident, Abdul Fadhil Ab Razak, 29, died at the scene while R.P Maheswari, 55, was injured in several parts of her body and currently receiving treatment at the Seberang Jaya Hospital.
Seberang Perai Tengah district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the two motorcyclists who were believed to be heading to the Perai Industrial park from Seberang Jaya had stopped under the flyover due to heavy rain, when a car driven by a 67-year-old man skidded and rammed into them.
He said the man, who worked as a security guard was not injured but was detained for the purpose of recording his statement before being released on police bail.
Abdul Fadhil's body was later sent to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for post-mortem.
