The man who was killed after being run over by the Express Rail Link (ERL) was a trespasser and not a passenger, ERL Sdn Bhd said.

“We would like to clarify that the man was not a passenger as mentioned by several news reports, and was believed to have been a trespasser who intruded into the fenced tracks,” ERL said in a statement today.

“No ticket or identification was found on him,” the statement read.

The body was spotted by ERL driver at 9.11am Sunday at KM7.2, about 1km from Bandar Tasik Selatan Station.

ERL said combined train services for the KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit were initiated, to facilitate and allow safe investigation on site following the discovery.

“Police removed the body after they investigated at the site, and normal train service resumed at 1340hrs. No further disruptions to the train schedule are expected,” ERL said.

The company also warned against crossing or walking along the railway tracks and emphasized that unauthorised persons should enter the fenced track area for their own safety.

“Crossing or walking along the railway tracks is extremely dangerous, as the trains travel at high speeds and are relatively quiet,” it said.

He said the entire 57 km tracks are fenced but illegal fence-cutting and crossings still happen.

The man was killed after he was run over by the ERL heading to the Kuala Lumpur Sentral Station yesterday.

In a police statement, the driver of ERL admitted hitting an unknown object on the track. Police investigating the incident found a decapitated body on the ERL track.

The head was found in a drain near the track.

The body was taken to the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital for post-mortem.
