Man's severed hand flung 15 metres away in collision

The victim is currently being treated at the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital.
The impact of a head-on collision involving a car and a truck resulted in the car driver's right hand being severed and flung 15 metres away at the 40.8km stretch of Jalan Kota Baharu-Kuala Krai in Machang today.
In the incident about 2.30pm, Muhamad Ruqaimin Rusdi, in his 30s was driving the car and approaching from Kuala Krai when the vehicle went against the traffic and entered the opposite lane.
At that juncture, the car rammed into a truck which was travelling from Kota Baharu.
Machang police acting chief DSP Kamal Azural Mohamed said the impact caused Muhamad Ruqaimin's right hand to be severed and flung about 15 metres away from the scene.
He said the truck driver escaped unhurt.
Kamal said the victim was warded at the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital.
Meanwhile, Machang Fire and Rescue Department operations chief Abdul Kadir Che Ya said nine firemen in an engine spent about an hour to rescue Muhamad Ruqaimin who was trapped in the badly-wrecked car.
