The police arrested a man in Jalan Tanjung Labian here because he is believed to have links with the Sulu intruders.
Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said he was arrested because he was carrying dangerous weapons and looked suspicious.
“The man may have links with the Sulu intruders and we are conducting investigations to obtain further details,” he said adding that he was arrested in the red zone.
Ismail said checks revealed that the 50-year-old carried a package containing two samurai swords and three machetes.
Ismail also said that the man was arrested in the red zone.
“We have already asked people not to enter this area to avoid untoward incidents,” he said.
Ismail said the police believe that the remaining intruders are hiding and does not rule out the possibility of them getting a helping hand from the locals.
He said he also hopes that the locals would serve as the eyes and the ears of the security forces and report any suspicious incidents immediately.
