A man was sentenced to 54 years jail and 21 strokes after he pleaded guilty for raping his daughter between Nov 12 and 21 at their residence in Kampung Sinjan, here last November.
He was also sentenced to seven strokes of the rotan after he pleaded guilty three counts of raping his underage daughter.
The 40-year-old man was prosecuted under Section 376B (1) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping.
Kuching Sessions Court judge, Dayang Ellyn Narisa Abang Ahmad sentenced the man to 18 years’ jail and seven strokes of whipping for each of the offences committed on Nov 12, 20 and 21.
Dayang Ellyn also ordered all punishments to run consecutively from today.
Investigations revealed that the victim was forced to fulfil the sexual needs of her father for fear of imminent harm and threat by him.
Judge ordered the victim to be placed under the supervision of the Welfare Department for counselling.
The victim is the second child of six siblings.
