Man shot dead at a traffic intersection in Penang
In yet another case of street shooting in the country, a 37-year-old man was shot dead at a traffic intersection along Jalan Anson here today.
Veerappan Kanapathi was found dead in the driver's seat of a black BMW car, which had a Kuala Lumpur registration number, in the 11.50 am incident, said North East District Police chief ACP Gan Kong Meng.
He said one of two men on a motorcycle had shot Veerappan, who was from Ayer Itam, in the neck and head.
Police found 14 spent 9mm bullets beside the driver's seat, he added.
Gan said Veerappan had three criminals records under the Dangerous Drugs Act.
He said the police were looking for eye-witnesses and nearby premises which CCTV to identify the assailants.
